For our students who want to experience a traditional public education, this is the best option. Students get the chance to play school sports, join after-school clubs, and patriciate in things like school dances all while receiving an excellent education. Our Local High School has a 96% graduation rate and prides itself on the academic success of its students. Traditional education also gives students the opportunity to practice coping skills in everyday life outside the control of the Program. It also helps to enhance their social and communication skills with both peers and adults. Mountaintop believes traditional school is a great option for many of our residents who will be successful in this setting.
In our community, we have the privileged opportunity for an excellent therapeutic school. Therapeutic school is a great opportunity for students who do not thrive in the traditional school system but still strive for the experience of going to a public school. The school provides much smaller class sizes and staff that are trained in TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) as well as trauma-informed. Many of our students with IEPs have found success with this option. Classes are catered to the student's individual abilities and students are given plenty of balance in their schedule to ensure that they are not overwhelmed and given the space to succeed.
Trade school is a fantastic option for students who dislike traditional schools and are more hands-on in their learning style. Our trade school options include welding, collision and auto repair, dental assistant, and many more. Students must be accepted in to this program and must start it at the beginning of the semester. Students that complete their course will graduate with a certification in their field. This gives students an excellent opportunity for their future and allows them to enter the work-force with an in-demand and marketable skill set.
Online school can be a good option for students in many circumstances. For students who want to pursue their GED or high school diploma while managing a productive schedule, online school could be the perfect fit. Online school can also allow students to catch up in school and, in some situations, graduate early. Mountaintop endorses the community that in-person schooling allows but for certain students in their unique situations online school will be ideal.
